Bulbs 4 Kids

4O/S have enjoyed planting bulbs for the school garden, they have been very kindly sent to us from the gardening initiative Bulbs 4 Kids in the Netherlands

Now is the time of year to plant your spring bulbs in the garden or in pots. So, the Bulbs 4 Kids project is perfect for us to join in. This gardening initiative has 300 schools in England taking part, also 300 from the Netherlands and Germany too. They have sent us a selection of bulbs to plant: tulips, mini daffodils and crocus. They have also sent us some trowels to dig with and some work booklets. We will have different (fun) tasks to complete from now until next spring in the book. One of the first is finding some lovely autumn leaves and glueing them in

We'll also be drawing pictures, naming flower bulbs, taking photos, writing bulb poems and measuring the bulbs as they grow.

First things first though. We had lots of fun planting our bulbs. We've now got to keep the pots safe against a sunny wall throughout winter, and wait for them to pop through the soil. Very exciting!

We also have the chance to enter the 'Golden Bulb' competition. We have to send photos of our flowers when they have bloomed next year. The best display wins.
