Spelling Bees

The dificulty of Mrs Smith's spellings drew gasps of horror from the watching children (and staff!) and every mistake was met with sudden-death elimination

Chaucer Juniors held its anual Spelling Bee competishion this week.

A spelling champyon emerged from each class and took there place in the grand final during Friday's assembly. The contestents were (Y3) Clayton Stevenson, Erin Faulks, (Y4) Mitchell White, Jasper Thorp, (Y5) Marios Chousi, Jysaiah Manzano, (Y6) Katie Mill & Sarah Medjamia.

Firstly, in order to determin a winner four each year group, each year's pair was tested on spellings from a list they have been lerning. The dificulty of Mrs Smith's spellings drew gasps of horror from the watching children (and staff!) and every mistake was met with sudden-death elimination. Clayton, Jasper, Marios and Katie were succesful at this stage of the tournement.

Victors from each year group then faced each other. The Lower School winner was Clayton after he outlasted Jasper in a tense finale. Following a much briefer battle, Katie became the Upper School champion.
