British Values

children from each year group took the time to research and contemplate what it means to be British

Chaucer's "British Values" Day was a resounding success as children from each year group took the time to research and contemplate what it means to be British. Classes focussed on the key values of Democracy, Rule of Law, Individual Liberty (Freedom of Speech) and Respect & Tolerance and produced some excellent pieces of work, which were showcased in the afternoon assembly.

Also, during the busy day, Year 5 visited the Mayor and took part in a debate, Year 3 composed an alternative Birish anthem, while earlier in the morning Miss Stallard and some children were interviewed by BBC Radio Derby. (The segment begins at the 1 hour, 10 minute mark.)
