Chaucer At Chelsea
It was a day that we shall never forget!
On Monday Mrs Upton, Myself Mrs Wheatley, James Wheatley and Gemma Soal travelled down to London to proudly represent our 1940's garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. We had interviews with BBC East Midlands Today, Radio Derby and The Sun newspaper, also spotting lots of famous people along the way including: Joanna Lumley, Ringo Starr, Dame Helen Mirren, Lilly Allen and Rick Stein. James and Gemma were our own couple of stars though, dressed in their 1940's outfits everyone that met them thought they were wonderful, they were a real credit to our school! To top our day off though Chaucer was the school that was picked to present the posy to the Duchess Of Cornwall, that was really a Wow moment, well done Gemma! We also met Prince Charles and Prince Edward who were both very charming to us, and we even got the Duchess to sit on our garden bench, what a photo! It was time to leave the Great Pavilion but outside we then saw the Queen, Prince Phillip, and with Prince Harry on his garden 'Sentebale' was Prince Andrew and Eugene, it was like being in a dream! Then yesterday we heard the amazing news that we had won a RHS Silver Gilt Flora award for our 1940's garden, what a couple of days for Chaucer Juniors, there's only one way to top this now, Gold! Watch this space......
