Triumphant at Tri-Golf

We now await word from the South Schools competition to find out if we are through to the County Finals. Fingers crossed!

Chaucer's inaugural Tri-Golf team had a fantastic day out at Kirk Hallam last Wednesday, taking part in an Erewash School Sports North Schools event.

After a few weeks of training at break times, the team (comprised of the most promising golfers from across years 4, 5 and 6) encountered a number of golf challenges, including putting, chipping, driving, bullseye and (last but not least) working as part of a team!

Ably instructed by some KHCA Year 7 Young Leaders, the Chaucer team racked up the highest total of any of the 5 schools in attendance. (1st = Chaucer, 2nd = Stanley St Andrews, 3rd = St Thomas, 4th = Stanley Common, 5th = Ladywood.) 2 of the putting games, in particular, were found to be pretty easy and the team scored more points on those individual games than some schools did altogether!

After the tournament, the team went back to practise some of the games they found most difficult!

We now await word from the South Schools competition to find out if we are through to the County Finals. Fingers crossed!

Thanks to Mr & Mrs Proctor, Mrs Wheatley and Mrs Wheeldon for their help.
