Continued Tennis Success!

Chaucer Juniors have been successful in Mini Tennis again this year.

Chaucer Juniors have been successful in Mini Tennis again this year, placing second in Erewash!

A team from Chaucer Juniors went to the North Schools competition last Wednesday (11th) to take part in the first tournament, where we came first with 34pts (winning 10 out of 12 matches!), and Ockbrook coming second with 24pts. The evening saw some very competitive tennis, but the scores seemed to keep edging in our favour.

Our victory led to an invitation to the Erewash Final, where the children played matches against Ockbrook, Shardlow and Grange. The standard of tennis was raised even higher, so much so that the professional tennis coach in attendence said some matches were comparable to county level! All four children played very well and raised their game, as well as all the children from the other schools, which resulted in a very close result. The top three teams were only separated by four points, and it was Ockbrook who came out on top this time. Well done to all of the tennis players at Chaucer though, who were great ambassadors for the school once again, and deservedly won the 'fair play' award for their outstanding sportsmanship.
