Derbyshire School Games Summer 2012

Today I had the privilege of taking four children to the first Summer School Games at Derby to play tennis.

Today I had the privilege of taking four children to the first Summer School Games at Derby to play tennis. There was a speech by Olivia Murphy (plays netball for England) also Leon Taylor (Footballer for England and an Olympic torchbearer when it passes through Derby). The event was presented by Andrew James a BBC sports presenter. The Games is a great opportunity to see young people represent their school and District. Around 600 young people took part competing in six sports. We also got to meet the Mayor of Derby! I was really proud of our team how hard they tried but more importantly how they conducted themselves throughout.
