Erewash Girls Football Champs!

Chaucer Girls Football Team made an outstanding impression on their first outing, winning the Erewash Year 5 and 6 Girls Mini Soccer Competition

Chaucer Girls Football Team made an outstanding impression on their first outing, winning the Erewash Year 5 and 6 Girls Mini Soccer Competition at Kirk Hallam Community College today.

Adapting well to late changes of rules, venue and playing surface, the squad (Vivia Barker, Georgia Searcy, Georgia Ord, Abbey Ord, Charlotte Turner, Emily Stuart, Tilly Davidson and captain Trinity Camm) combined solid defensive play with a constant attacking threat to maintain a 100% record during the tournament.

In their first match, the girls overcame a slow start to come from behind and beat Dallimore 3-1. They then defeated Sawley 1-0 and finally overpowered Cotmanhay 3-0 to become the local area champions!

Due to this fantastic result, the school has been invited to represent Erewash in the Derbyshire School Games U11 Mini Soccer Girls County Finals next week.

Several members of the squad took the opportunity to make new friends and gain valuable match experience by making guest appearances for Sawley Juniors, who were short of players.

A special thanks goes to Mrs Camm for helping to transport the team.
