Planting At The Cenotaph

A lovely afternoon planting at a very special place in our hometown

For the second time this year we had the honour of planting the town's Cenotaph, ready for the commemorative services in November

We worked alongside the 'Pride In Erewash' team led by Richard Windsor

We started by planting some Polyanthus

Then we had a surprise visitor praising our work, Councillor James Dawson

Once all the Polyanthus were planted we started on the Tulips, which had travelled all the way from Amsterdam in the Netherlands

The children did a great job as always and the flowers are going to look beautiful next year

I think it is great that we can get involved with a great group of people like 'Pride In Erewash', so our children have the opportunity to take pride in our community and also respect special places like the Cenotaph, and of it's importance

We look forward to attending the remembrance service in November, which will highlight that this is the 100th year since the outbreak of World War 1, I believe it will be a very poignant and moving experience for all
