Potato Council Filming Harvest

The 'Grow Your Own Potatoes' Potato Council came to film us harvesting our potatoes for their national competition

After planting our potatoes back in March it was now time for us to harvest them. We planted two varieties for the competition which were sent to us, 'Rocket' and our regional variety 'Luciole'. Last year we won the Central Region prize of a bench, for the heaviest weight of 'Luciole'. So this year AHDB Potatoes wanted to film us whilst harvesting them. Very exciting. We also held an inter class competition for the heaviest weight, as each class had grew a bag of potatoes:

5T/W won with 'Rocket' at 1080g, and 4O/S won with 'Luciole' at 1040g, each class got a certificate though for taking part. After all the potatoes were harvested, they were taken to the school kitchen to be cooked and enjoyed

It was lovely to welcome back Sue and Emma from AHDB Potatoes for the filming, and meet Ben the photographer too. It was lots of fun

We have sent in our results, so now it's just a matter of waiting. The video will be on YouTube when it's ready

Another great day in our school garden!
