Making Bunting And Flags

We had lots of fun this week making bunting for the 'Party In The Park' on Victoria Park on Sunday 2nd October, 11 till 3pm

It was lovely to welcome back Helen the park ranger at Victoria Park to Chaucer. Before we started making our bunting for the event, all of year 4 had a walk up to the park. We had a great time looking at all the things in the park, especially hunting for conkers and rustling our feet through all the fallen leaves. We were also looking for items that we could use to decorate our flags

Whilst in the park Helen also told us about the renovations that were taking place. The pagola and the bandstand are being rebuilt, and the bowling pavilion is also having a makeover. When we had collected all we needed, we headed back to school.

Making the bunting was a lovely activity, and the children really enjoyed it.

As well as using glue to stick the various items on, we also used a leaf pressing method known as 'Hapa Zoma'. This was very effective on the material and made some great patterns when rubbed in with a spoon

There was so many creative designs made, they are going to look brilliant hanging in the park at the event on Sunday

After everyone had decorated a piece of bunting, they each made a flag to take to the park if they visit on Sunday. The bunting looked great when it was complete

Hope Victoria Park gets lots of people visit their event!
