Whitehall - Day 2

We've had another fantastic day of fun at Whitehall today...

Following on from yesterday's impressive start, Year 6 have enjoyed another great day at Whitehall.

After some hours sleep, the children were awake early, without any real need for a wake up call. Then after breakfast and with the addition of our day-trippers (Thomas, Lucy, Chloe, Lidia, Jonathan, Mrs Faulks, Mrs Farrall and Mrs Broadhurst), we split into our groups to begin our day.

In the morning, Group B (Miss Stallard) and E (Miss Singleton) headed to abseil off a 70ft bridge, Group A (Miss Smith) and C (Mrs Faulks) enjoyed a very wet stream scramble and Group D (Mr Woodcock) set off rock scrambling. The vast majority of children excelled in terms of their team work and remaining positive despite some cold & windy conditions and the unfortunate cancellation of the canoeing.

After a healthy lunch, the groups swapped activities, before returning to the house for some well-earned free time. Dinner was hearty steak pie with veg, which was well received by nearly all.

The final activity for the day was "The woods have eyes (or pies)". The whole group came together for this night-time challenge, where pairs worked to find tin foil pie dishes that had been hidden around the site. Congratulations to Joseph and Sam, who were the overall winners!

We look forward to another exciting, action-packed tomorrow - with some groups scheduled to abseil and others to stream scramble - before heading home to Ilkeston.
