A medical forms is available from the school office, this must be completed by parents before we can administer any medicine.

The medicine, with the completed form will be given to the class Teacher/TA to be administered.

At Chaucer School we are happy to administer medicines if they are prescribed by a GP and are to be given four times a day (three times a day can be managed at home). If it is possible ask if there can be a bottle for school as well as a bottle for home.

We can also administer over the counter non-perscribed medicine  such as Calpol and creams. The medicine will still need to be given to the office and a medical form filled out.

All medicines need to arrive/leave school in their original packaging and are to be handed adult to adult (children should NOT bring their own medicines in). If possible ask the pharmacist to label the medicines/tablets in the box.

It is our policy to let asthmatic children be in charge of their own inhalers, we only allow reliever inhalers in school (usually blue ones). These are stored in each classroom in a box, which is taken to every PE lesson. It is very important that your child has their inhaler in school; if it is not in school they will not be allowed to take part in sporting, out of school activities and school trips.
