Bake Off Results
What a success our first ever Chaucer Bake Off was!
What a success our first ever Chaucer Bake Off was! There seemed to be an endless stream of children bringing in cakes on Tuesday morning. In total 112 children and 12 staff took part. We really couldn't believe the huge number of entries or how fantastic they all looked! We definitely have a lot of talented bakers in our school! Everyone had really 'Dared to be different' and had been so creative!
Kerry from 'Can't Resist Cakes' and Penny, our school cook were our judges. They had an extremely difficult task to choose our Bake Off Champions. The staff had been challenged to make Mary Berry's lemon victoria sandwich cake, the cakes were judged on taste and appearance. The judges decided that Miss Smith's cake was the best because of its lovely lemony flavour and moist texture! Mrs Faulks came second and Mrs Briggs came third.
Next came the hardest part - choosing a Bake Off champion from the cup cakes. The judges deliberated for ages as there were so many that were fantastic. Finally they decided on Spencer Mottram's cakes because of the way he had used the Chaucer Junior School logo and because of the detail on his figures. Ryan Derbyshire came a very close second. The judges loved the bright colours and the detail on his animals. Spencer and Ryan both won vouchers to attend Kerry's Cook Club at Can't Resist Cakes. Sarah Parkes and Ruby Bray were both runners up. The judges liked Ruby's pretty cakes and thought that Sarah's looked delicious because of the healthy decorations she had used.
A big thank you to everyone that took part in the Bake Off and to everyone that bought cakes after school. We will let you know how much money we have raised for Sport's Relief.
