Great Bake Off

It will be held on Wednesday 23rd March. The challenge is to bake and decorate 4 cupcakes.

It's that time of year again! Time for this year's...

Chaucer Junior Great Bake Off!

So look out your aprons and recipes as this is another chance for any young baker in the school to show off their baking skills by entering the competition.

This year our Bake Off will once again be Easter or Spring themed. We were really impressed with the creativity of the cakes entered last year and hope to once again see lots of original ideas!

It will be held on Wednesday 23rd March. The challenge is to bake and decorate 4 cupcakes.

Your cakes can be decorated in any way you like using ingredients of your choice, so reach for the stars and let your creative skills run wild!

Please bring your cakes straight into the hall on the Wednesday morning. Each entry will be awarded 5 house points.  The cakes need to be in a tin labelled with your name and class, you will also need to provide a plate on which to display the cakes, again this must be named.

We are very lucky to have three judges this year. Once again we have Sarah Martin and Jordan Cox and joining them this year we have Lisa Greaves. Sarah is from Creative Occasions in Ilkeston. She makes and decorates cakes for all occasions and is looking forward to meeting future cake decorators and her future competition! Sarah has a website for Creative Occasions if anyone would like further information. Lisa is from Tescos in Ilkeston and Jordan took part in the Great British Bake Off a couple of years ago.

This year we are also taking part in a community Bake Off with 5 other schools (Cotmanhay, Kensington, Charlotte, Granby and Ladywood) from the area.  The winning entries from each school Bake Off will go forward to a Grand Final which will take place in the Market Place at 11:30am on 23rd March. The Mayor and Jordan will have the difficult task of choosing the overall winners from the 6 schools taking place and also an overall staff winner.

This falls under a Community Easter Enterprise project, as along side the Bake Off, there will also be a market selling Easter-related gifts that the children have made. Come and support the children of Ilkeston and Kirk Hallam as they work together as a community.

There are some fantastic prizes to win so start thinking of your ideas!! Last year we had an impressive 74 entries, it would be great if we could beat this number this year.

Staff will also be taking part in the Bake Off, their challenge is to find out who can make the best Chocolate Brownies!

There will be a cake sale in the hall at the end of school on Wednesday 23rd March to sell the entries from the Bake Off. The proceeds of the sale will be shared between Sport's Relief and School funds. Please come along to the sale it will be a good opportunity to buy some delicious cakes, raise money for charity and also to view all the entries and winners.

IMPORTANT! Please do NOT use any nuts or ingredients containing nuts in your cakes in case of allergies.
