We are committed to continually improve the teaching and learning experience of our children, to ensure the pupils receive a broad, balanced, creative curriculum. We strive to create an environment where pupils can access a wide variety of opportunities to help them achieve their full potential.
Governors are expected to attend full governing body meetings termly and also to participate in one of the committees that feed into the main governing body. We currently have 2 committees:
1. Resource Management Committee
- Focussing on finance and the leadership and management of the school
Members: Mrs Wilson, Miss Mee, Mr Dawson, Mr Smith and Mr Clarke
2. Teaching and Learning Committee - Focus on the curriculum, standards and the safety and well being of our children
Members: Mrs Starling, Mrs Nuttall, Mrs Disley, Miss Richards, Miss Mee and Mr Forrest
The Governing Body adopt, review and monitor a range of policies that govern the operation of the school including Health and Safety, Behaviour, Curriculum, Performance Management and Pay Policy.
Governors have a link to a specific area of school. This is dependent upon the school's priorities for each year. For this academic year they are as follows:
Safeguarding, Mental health & SEN Mrs Amy Nuttall
Behaviour and Anti-Bullying Mrs Amy Nuttall
Pupil Premium Mrs Wendy Disley
Teaching and Learning Mrs Nuttall, Mrs Starling and Mrs Disley
These governors focus on the 5 areas for School Improvement:
- Continue to move all teaching to outstanding
- Continue to improve progress in writing with a focus on disadvantaged children
- Continue to improve progress in Mathematic with a focus on girls
- To narrow the gap in Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar for disadvantaged children
- To develop a Mastery approach for the more able
These governors are kept fully informed about the above issues and these are reported back to the full governing body.
The Governing Body are very proud of the achievements of the school and believe that along with the Headteacher, staff, pupils and parents we are working to ensure all children fulfil their potential and become lifelong learners.
